Stacy Pearl is from Brooklyn, New York. She has been a working chef since 1976.
While studying painting and printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design, Stacy realized that making a living as an artist would be a challenge she had never realistically planned for. This led her to quit art school and return to New York to apprentice at some of the city's most interesting catering kitchens and restaurants.
She soon diversified and became a private chef to the rich and famous. In an effort to lead an interesting and amusing life, Stacy has lived and worked in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Rome. In 1994, she opened her own restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn under the bridge called Stacy's. Then, for three years she lived in London, England, cooking Southwestern cuisine in a trendy Notting Hill restaurant. Upon returning to the States, Stacy finally found a good man, married, and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mouth of Wonder began as her half-hour food talk show on KSFR in 2006. For 7 years, she filled her corner of the public radio airwaves with cooking advice, restaurant reviews, interviews with local foodies, and over a thousand delicious recipes. Besides cooking, making art, and writing, she also partnered with her husband for Pearl+Guld LTD, a Santa Fe-based custom Modernist furniture business. After relocating with her family back to NYC in 2014, Stacy worked in a number of great catering kitchens and restaurants in New York and is currently a culinary consultant.
